WCF's Re-Employment Connection to Hire 700 Adults
Have you recently been laid off or downsized? Are you receiving unemployment compensation? WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA (WCF) encourages you to apply today for the Re-Employment Connection, a program funded by $4 million in stimulus funds under the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act that will provide employability skills and valuable work experience in local jobs for 700 adults, age 22 and up.
WCF will make the employee and employer connections and write the paychecks. Participants will have an opportunity to earn $10 an hour and work up to 40 hours a week for three months in one of 12 tracks that are staggered from October 2009 through December 2010. That means you could earn up to $4,800 during this program.
Eligibility Requirements
Adults that fit the following eligibility requirements may qualify:
· Must be age 22 or older by September 15, 2009
· Must be a resident of Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake or Sumter counties
· Must meet the WIA Dislocated Worker program eligibility categories
o You may be eligible for this program if you meet one of the following criteria:
§ If you have been terminated, laid off or downsized
§ If you are eligible for receiving unemployment compensation
§ If you have exhausted your unemployment benefits
§ If you worked at a facility with more than 25 employees that announced a permanent layoff
§ If you are a homemaker who no longer receives support from another family member and are looking to enter the workforce
§ If you were self-employed and currently unemployed due to a natural disaster or economic conditions
· Priority given to veterans and their spouses
