My Own Personal Grocery Shopping Tip
Thought maybe some of you might benefit from this. I usually shop for groceries between Albertsons and Publix depending on what specials each run from week to week. Since Publix has bought out Albertsons there are few that are left in Florida as most either shut down or converted over to Publix.
I found that basically, they alternate each week with most of the deals on meats, produce, frozen etc. So if you dont see a lot of what you need on sale at one of them its usually on sale at the other
I have learned things like ice cream and other frozen foods tend to have deeper sales prices on them during the 3rd week of each month. Most of the time ice cream is buy one, get one (bogo) during that week. Also you want to compare the prices of meats at albertsons, sometimes they have the buy one package get two free, which is 3 for the price of 1 package. Ive found that the sales price on lets say chicken breasts comes out cheaper per pound if you buy them from display rather than the 3 for 1 special they are running.
Also I use the computer to compare weekly ads each week, you can even save the items you want and print out the grocery list on the left
Here are the links, just put in your zip code
Albertsons - http://albertsonsmarket.com/specials/ads.php
Publix - http://specials.publix.com/
Its a great way to save money by comparing and also thinking through what you need before going into the store
I hope this might help at least one of you

Wow, I'm impressed--a guy who knows how to shop! [Dang, I knew I should have taken you up on that proposal. ]
Albertson's are too far away to be of much benefit in my area, though there are other little markets that are worth a look.
It never occurred to me to look for any interactive tools for Publix, good idea about the online shop list. It's a bit ironic, Publix used to be considered one of the most expensive places for groceries, probably still is, if you don't take advantage of the maximum number of sales, which so many of us are.
As a single person with very scarce kitchen storage space for food, I especially like their "twofer" specials, as opposed to their "bogo" (new term to me). Unlike some stores, which don't charge half if you just buy one, Publix does. That makes it possible to shop for one and still get great deals, as well as get a lot of variety in the weekly purchases.
Also, by now I would bet that most unemployed people are aware that Target has a lot of discounted food. I can't find all I need there, but occasionally cruise for stuff like Healthy Request soups at half price, a personal staple.

kc32765,
Thanks for the tips. I checked out the website and am amazed at the variety available. And there's a distribution site right near my house...it's actually closer than any grocery store.
Y'all are great!
