Losing Coverage?
Fla Today 6-15-10
Losing coverage?
Rep. Bill Posey, R-Rockledge, has sounded an alarm over estimates of how many U.S. employees "will lose their current health care plans" over the next three years. Change could affect more than half by 2013, new data shows.
"The president promised that people who like their current plans can keep them," Posey said in a prepared statement. "But now the details of their plan actually confirm . . . most Americans will lose their current health care plan."
The key word is "current." The health care reform law says companies may continue to provide today's benefit plans as long as the terms and pricing remain steady enough over time to be "grandfathered" into the new system.
But the challenge of blending new rules for deductibles, guaranteed coverage and preventive care will persuade about 66 percent of small employers and 45 percent of large employers to give up on grandfathered plans and go with new coverage, an administration report shows. That doesn't mean a loss of insurance for employees. But it will be different, more expensive, and scary to some.
Posey calls it "a bait and switch."

Doctors Refuse Medicare Payments
A unfortunate artifact of Health Care Reform. In this (Morning Joe) video, the Doctor mentions that the American Medical Association (AMA) was at the table when the deals were cut on Health Care Reform but now is "retroactively crying foul" on its provisions and impact.

Health Plans Must Provide Some Tests at No Cost
Interesting that we have a Health Care law passed and signed, yet the "White House" is making these determinations.

Obesity Rating
All right all of you happy donut eaters, the Prez is insisting by 2014 your medical records will be electronic and will include your body mass index (bmi) , accessible to all who view your records. No more lying about your weight, thanks to our benevolent government. (in the words of Mork to Orson "yes your obesity")
WHAT’S ON THE TOM SULLIVAN SHOW 7-16-10
“Obesity Rating”
Beginning in 2014, electronic health records will be kept of all Americans, and included in that report will be an “obesity rating”. This rating would be available on a national exchange that would let doctors, insurance companies and the government know if you’re overweight. Will standardized obesity records clear the way for “fat taxes” or higher health care premiums? And, if your weight started costing you money, would you try take off a few pounds?

Costs of Health Care Reform
This is bad news, on top of that Sen Schumer (D-NY) has no clue what is in the Health Care Reform bill he voted for.
