Yes I got hosed on this deal. I had to renew my tags 3 months ago and they offered me a 2 year renewal. (At the time the legislature was still negoiating how much they were going to raise licence fees as well as EB). I scoured the internet (and the state websites) and could ony find reference to a 10% increase. Since money is tight I opted to do only one 1 year. The next week I read the legislature decided to raise fees by as much as 75%.

I called back and ask if I could go ahead and opt for the 2nd year, they said no (you would think the state would be anxious to get the money in advance and would find a way to do so)

That will suck when that bill notice arrives next year.

About any claimed "upgrade problems"; it is obviously a way for the state to hold on to the money GIVEN THEM by the Feds to incur more interest on said funds. They do it all the time, and I don't think people realise this. Ask anyone receiving child support! My tax refund check goes to my ex and it takes almost a month after it is sent by the IRS for FLa to send it to my wife. It takes 2 weeks for regular payments to go thru, just to collect interest!
