Anyone have info on Double Dip Claims.
So my original claim started 11/2/08, used intial 26 weeks and extension's on 11/2/09 AWI ran me for a new benefit year which i had enough to quailify for a new claim ( i had worked for the same company for 20yrs in florida ) AWI told me the only way i could use this new claim was if i had earned 3X my weekly benefit amount which i had not found any work so they put me back on the extension's for my 11/2/08 claim, well i have used all extension's now. I called AWI last week and they mentioned again that i still had a claim from 11/2/09 that if i could earn $600 i would be able to use that claim. When i explained to them that if i could find a job and earn that money i obviously would not be needing unemployment. I spoke to two different rep's and they both said if i can earn that $ 600 some how whether it be painting, fixing computer's, mowing lawns yada, yada, that i could use that towards the 3X weekly benefit amount needed to be able to meet the qualification's to open the 11/2/09 claim that is just sitting there unused. The weekly benefit amount's are less then what my 11/2/08 claim was but still is better then nothing. Has anyone ever heard of being able to meet the 3x weekly benefit amount qualification ( double dip ) by earning money doing odd Job's ?

Re: Anyone have info on Double Dip Claims.
Motley, I certainly havent heard anything like this but rather the opposite. Any credits for UIC come from the reported wages from your employer. The unemployment system is set up to have the employer pay into the fund based on the wages paid out to you. This is why we see people who were self employed not being able to claim UIC often. I would strongly suggest calling Melody or someone in Tallahassee about this, seems to me you were given some bad info
Re: Anyone have info on Double Dip Claims.
Yeah i hear you. I do have credits from my previous employer for a new claim 11/2/09 - 11/2/10 $2226.00 is what i have that i could use on a new claim. , but there saying i can't use those credits until i meet the earned 3X weekly benefit amount since my intial claim. I will try to call again today. But when i called originally the rep is the one who brought it up, i never even asked about it. He was like hey if you can earn $600 doing some odd job's then you could use this other claim.

Unemployed In Orlando,
O.K. so here is the update on this that i got. I have a contact at the Tallahasee main office that the DOL set me up with last year when i had some issues with my claim. I only contact her when i have major issues. She said that i do in fact have a claim in the system for 2009 that i could not use because i did not earn 3X my weekly benefit amount from any work since i started collecting unemployment. That claim will expire in november. She said if i can earn that 3X wba whether it be odd job's such as painting, computers, ect. That as long as i write down the work i did, how much i was paid, who i did work for. Once i earn enough to meet the 3X wba amount to fax her the info and that will be acceptable to meet the 3X wba requirement and i will be able to collect on that claim that is just sitting there. So all though that sound's like good news i havent had much luck finding work all this time. So time to put some add's on Graig's list and see what i can come up with. I need to earn $600 to meet the requirement i do have some graphic design expierence so i am hoping i can find someone who need's that as i can charge big bucks for that. Will keep you updated.
